Maíllo, Artista Ganador De La I Edición Del Premio De Arte A&G

The jury of the A&G Art Prize has announced the results of its first edition, an initiative of A&G launched last May with the aim of promoting the production and dissemination of the work of emerging artists, through an annual call. After receiving more than 100 applications, the jury, made up of 11 people with different links to the art world who wanted to collaborate with A&G on this award, has decided to award the prize in its first edition to Maíllo with his painting entitled “Tins”. The five finalists were: Cristina Gamón, Elvira Amor, Álvaro Borobio, Federico Miró and Pablo Mercado.

Alberto Rodríguez-Fraile, president of A&G, said: “We are very pleased with the great reception and high participation in this first edition of the A&G Art Prize. We would like to thank all those who have submitted their applications and we hope to be able to feature their works in future editions. We know how important it is for artists, in the initiation stage, to receive support to gain access to spaces where they can exhibit their talent, and for this reason, we will continue to offer our support to the artists of our country.”

Maíllo, an artist who has won the A&G Art Prize, has a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has exhibited, among others, at the Addaya Centre d'Art Contemporani in Mallorca; at the Alcobendas Art Centre in Madrid; at the ICO Collections Museum in Madrid, and at the Sala de Arte Joven de la Comunidad de Madrid. In 2018 he was a finalist for the BMW painting prize. His work is part of different private and public collections.

The winner's works, along with those of the five finalists mentioned above, will be exhibited for one year, with the option of being sold to the public, at the A&G headquarters at Paseo de la Castellana 92 ​​(Madrid), on the floor dedicated to client meeting rooms. This award also entails a financial endowment of €6,000 for the winning work. In addition, the 5 finalists will have 2 exhibition rooms each.

The 1st Edition of the A&G Art Prize has had the collaboration of Arte Global, one of the major international art consultancy firms dedicated to art collecting and cultural management projects. In this way, A&G has wanted to reinforce its commitment to culture and offer its support to emerging artists, giving them the opportunity to enhance the visibility of their works.
