Alfonso Albacete

Alfonso Albacete (Spain, 1950) trained with Juan Bonafé from 1959 to 1967 and later studied Fine Arts and Architecture in Valencia and Madrid. He holds a degree as a Senior Technical Architect specializing in Urban Planning, Gardening, and Landscape Architecture from the Madrid School of Architecture.

His painting lies at the intersection of figuration and abstraction. Characterized by intense color, it explores architecture, landscape, space, light, and memory through dynamic compositions in which geometry and gesturality transform memories, places, and sensations into a visual experience of great expressive power. His ongoing artistic exploration has established him as one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Spanish painting.

Notable among his exhibitions are "Vanitas" (MAXAM 2019 Calendar) at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum and "Asuntos Internos" at the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art in Seville (2014). He served on the Board of Directors of the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid from 1991 to 2003 and has been a member of the Board of Directors of VEGAP since 1995. His awards include the Outstanding Artist Award at the Gentleman Awards (2021) and the D’Achtall Observatory Award for the Visual Arts (2013). His work is included in major collections, including those of the Reina Sofía National Art Museum, the Patio Herreriano Museum in Valladolid, and the BBVA Collection.
