Gonzalo Sicre Maqueda (Spain, 1967) earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Complutense University of Madrid and later obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. His work focuses primarily on figurative painting.

His work is characterized by the depiction of quiet interiors and exteriors, almost always devoid of human presence. In his paintings, light, emptiness, mystery, and absence play a central role.

Among her awards are the Marcelino Botín Foundation’s Visual Arts Fellowship in 1998, the Todisa Painting Prize in 2001, the Endesa Visual Arts Fellowship in 2003, the Caja Castilla-La Mancha Prize in 2004, and the Provincial Council Prize at the 18th Zamora Painting Biennial in 2006. Her work is included in collections such as those of the Reina Sofía Museum, ARTIUM, IVAM, the Coca-Cola Spain Foundation, the Unión Fenosa Foundation, Bancaixa, the Higher Sports Council, and the Atlantic Center for Modern Art.
