Manuel Hernández Mompó (Valencia, 1927-1992) was a prominent Spanish painter of abstraction. He began his studies at the age of 13 and won a scholarship in 1948 to the Granada Painters' Residency. His work shifted from figurative to abstract, influenced by Informalism, developing his own style without adhering to specific movements. He lived in Paris, Rome, and the Netherlands, and returned to Spain, where he alternated between Madrid, Ibiza, and Mallorca. He was recognized for his use of Mediterranean light and received multiple awards, establishing himself as a key figure in Spanish abstraction.
