Mar Solís

Mar Solís is a Spanish artist (Madrid, Spain, 1967) specialized in sculpture. She graduated in Fine Arts from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and, since the late 1990s, has developed a career focused on the study of space, material, and the relationship between the work and the viewer.

Her practice develops mainly from abstraction and pays special attention to line, curve, void, balance, and movement. She works with materials such as wood and metal, creating sculptures and installations that engage with architecture and transform space through light and shadow. In her recent projects, she has also addressed concepts related to physics, such as gravitation, energy, symmetry, and matter.

She has presented exhibitions in institutions such as IVAM, Frost Art Museum, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Eduardo Sívori, Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid, and CentroCentro. Her work is part of collections such as IVAM, Ayuntamiento de Madrid, Comunidad de Madrid, Museo Tiflológico, and Fundación Caja Extremadura. Her awards include the First Prize for Sculpture Generación 2003 from Caja Madrid, the Ojo Crítico–Segundo Milenio Award from RNE, and the First Prize at the Caja Extremadura International Sculpture Competition.
