Information about the work

Miquel Barceló is a prominent contemporary artist whose career is characterized by constant technical and material experimentation, as well as a singular vision that reinvents traditional artistic languages. Drunk Man at His Bar presents a scene charged with melancholy, in which an inebriated figure appears slumped over a bar table. The color palette, dominated by dark and earthy tones, contributes to conveying a sense of exhaustion and helplessness. The figure's head rests heavily on the surface, next to a half-filled glass and an open book, elements that suggest a state of introspection or anguish. In the background, the repetition of bottles reinforces an oppressive atmosphere, accentuating routine and confinement. Barceló's energetic brushstrokes provide texture and volume, underscoring the protagonist's loneliness. This work demonstrates the artist's interest in exploring human fragility, addressing themes such as loneliness and the need for emotional refuge.

Miquel Barceló is a Spanish artist, born in Felanitx, Mallorca, in 1957. His practice includes painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, book illustration, installation, and large wall projects. He studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Palma and spent a short time at the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, although much of his career developed through self-teaching.

His style is marked by strong experimentation with material, color, texture, and physical processes of change. His pieces refer to the Mediterranean, nature, animals, the sea, Baroque painting, art brut, and his stays in Africa, especially in Mali. His participation in the São Paulo Biennial in 1981 and in Documenta VII in Kassel in 1982 helped him gain international recognition. His most important public projects include the ceramic work in the Chapel of the Holy Sacrament in Palma Cathedral and the dome of Room XX at the United Nations Palace in Geneva.

Barceló is represented in collections such as the Museo Reina Sofía, Centre Pompidou, MoMA, and Guggenheim Bilbao. - Luis Eduardo Ruiz Santiago

I was treated with absolute transparency via WhatsApp; they knew a lot about the art market and framing. The lithograph arrived today with great care, in a cardboard tube wrapped in onionskin paper. It looks just like the photo! But the size wasn't perfect for me; they need to improve that aspect. A very good virtual experience!

- Marta Vilchez

I have found a product/work that satisfies me and the most correct commercial treatment.
