MATERIALS AND CARE

 Recommendations for proper conservation of works of art:

  • Keep artwork away from direct sunlight and any other heat sources (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging artwork near areas with smoke and pollution (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We recommend protecting your artwork with a glass frame.

Avoid sudden temperature changes. It is recommended to store paintings in areas with a room temperature of 18-20°C and 50% relative humidity.

If you want to permanently illuminate the work, we recommend using cold light sources. Use a soft duster for periodic cleaning. Never use household cleaners.
SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Shipping usually takes around 7 days. Shipping costs are determined based on the gallery's location and the size of the artwork. Packaging material costs are included.

Purchases made through Arte Global’s website (www.arteglobal.es) can be canceled within 24 hours. After this period, the purchase is considered final.

Information about the work

Cristina Iglesias (San Sebastián, 1956) has developed a body of work where sculpture, architecture, and perception come together through materials, textures, and structures that shape how the viewer experiences space. Habitación XI, made in 2002, is a silkscreen on silk from a limited edition of 25. The work brings some of the concerns of her sculptural practice into print.

The image shows a black-and-white interior built through layers of space, creating a sequence of frames and shadows that draw the eye deeper into the scene. The work explores the relationship between light, darkness, and depth, placing the viewer within an ambiguous setting, somewhere between architecture and imagination. The room is not presented as a clearly defined place, but as a visual experience of movement, transition, and perception.

Cristina Iglesias is a Spanish sculptor, born in San Sebastián in 1956. She studied at Chelsea School of Art in London, and since the 1980s she has developed a practice focused on the relationship between sculpture, architecture, space, and perception.

Her work combines materials such as bronze, steel, resin, glass, and water to create immersive structures, passages, screens, pavilions, fountains, and spaces of transition. In many of her pieces, nature appears through organic motifs, plant-like textures, reflections, and moving water, creating an experience between the built and the natural.

Her best-known public projects include the doors of the Museo del Prado’s new building, Tres Aguas in Toledo, Forgotten Streams at Bloomberg’s headquarters in London, and Deep Fountain, in front of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp. She also represented Spain at the Venice Biennale in 1986 and 1993. Her works are part of collections such as the Museo Reina Sofía, Tate, MoMA, Centre Pompidou, and Museo Guggenheim Bilbao. Her awards include the National Prize for Visual Arts in 1999, the Berliner Kunstpreis in 2012, the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 2015, and the Royal Academy Architecture Prize in 2020.
