MATERIALS AND CARE

 Recommendations for proper conservation of works of art:

  • Keep artwork away from direct sunlight and any other heat sources (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging artwork near areas with smoke and pollution (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We recommend protecting your artwork with a glass frame.

Avoid sudden temperature changes. It is recommended to store paintings in areas with a room temperature of 18-20°C and 50% relative humidity.

If you want to permanently illuminate the work, we recommend using cold light sources. Use a soft duster for periodic cleaning. Never use household cleaners.
SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Shipping usually takes around 7 days. Shipping costs are determined based on the gallery's location and the size of the artwork. Packaging material costs are included.

Purchases made through Arte Global’s website (www.arteglobal.es) can be canceled within 24 hours. After this period, the purchase is considered final.

Information about the work

Victor Vasarely (1906–1997), a Hungarian-French artist and central figure in Op Art, developed from his early work in graphic design a language based on geometric modules, color contrasts, and perceptual effects. In YKA (1989), a color lithograph on pearlescent Japan paper, this research unfolds in a grid of triangles, squares, and polygons repeated in vertical columns against a dark background; the reds, violets, and blues create a rhythmic gradation that activates the surface without losing compositional precision. The work is part of an edition of 20 EA/PA copies (artist’s proofs), hand-signed and numbered with Roman numerals.

Victor Vasarely was a Hungarian-French artist (Pécs, Hungary, 1906–Paris, France, 1997), considered a central figure in Op Art and kinetic art. After studying in Budapest, he settled in Paris in 1930, where he worked as a graphic designer before developing an abstract practice based on geometry, color, and visual perception.

His painting is known for rigorous compositions that produce effects of movement, depth, and optical instability. Through geometric forms, color contrasts, and repetitive structures, Vasarely explored the relationship between art, science, and perception, questioning the idea of a fixed and stable image.

His work is part of collections such as MoMA, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, and Fondation Vasarely. He was included in institutional exhibitions such as The Responsive Eye, presented at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1965. His awards include the Guggenheim International Award in 1964 and the Grand Prize at the São Paulo Biennial in 1965.
