In this context, Boa Mistura intervened on the facade of “Case Nuove”, a 17th-century building currently being transformed into a cultural center.

A collaborative and inclusive artistic process

The work was articulated through a living process:

1. The mural was initially designed in Boa Mistura's studio in Madrid.

2. It was transferred and reconfigured in the window openings of the Milanese building.

3. The installation was carried out by local prisoners, actively integrating the community into the creation process.

Fragmented by the architecture itself, the word “Libertá” appears and disappears before the viewer. The wall acts as a medium for expression, resistance, and identity.

"Libertá was born from listening to the neighborhood and working with its own contradictions. We were interested in discussing the physical and symbolic limits that define life in the periphery, and doing so through our language: the wall, the gesture, and the word," explain the members of Boa Mistura.
