Architectural Digest: Comparing a Work of Art Is Like Having a Heart-To-Heart Attack: It Goes Straight to the Heart. This year, in honor of ARCO, ten collectors and gallery owners share their first time.

Architectural Digest: Un Acto de Amor

Betting on someone's talent, whether old or new, is a matter of faith. Faith that an artist has managed to capture an idea, a feeling, or even a sensation in a product in a way that captivates us and makes us want it to stay with us forever. And that's why it's no surprise that all the collectors we've had the pleasure of speaking with at ARCO , the most important art fair in our country, tell us the same thing: "Once you start, it's impossible to stop in this world ." Carmen Ballesta, Lourdes Martínez, Álvaro Alcázar, Uxío da Vila, Juan Vergez and Patricia Pearson de Vergez, Virginia de Diego, Moisés Pérez, Elba Benítez, and Elisa Hernando open up to us about what it means to them to fill their lives with works created by others.

And how do you start collecting, you might ask? Well, while there are a thousand ways—every artist has his own way—the truth is that " the sooner you discover a promising young artist, the more proud you'll be of having bought something from them tomorrow ," Patricia and Juan Vergez told us in their Madrid home. "It's like watching your child succeed." That's why this month we've decided to compile a list of eleven young international artists brimming with talent and a desire to conquer the world : Axel Chay, Bina Baitel, Gustav Winsth, Jorge Suárez-Kilzi, Léa Mestres, Lola Lely, Luka Cober, Martina Taranto, Miguel Liro, Polima Miliou, and Zuzanna Wójcik.
