Alfons Borrell (Spain, 1931–2020). A resident of Sabadell since childhood, he trained in the 1950s with Hermen Anglada Camarasa in Mallorca and at the Escola de Belles Arts in Barcelona. He developed an abstract painting style centered on color, gesture, and space.

In 1960, he was a member of Grup Gallot, a collective that carried out actions akin to action painting and surrealist automatism to challenge the limits of authorship and the medium of painting. His work evolved from symmetrical and gestural abstractions toward a progressive simplification, featuring large monochromatic surfaces in which color takes on a structural role. The presence of geometric figures, graphic symbols, and notations reinforces the lyrical, austere, and introspective nature of his painting.

In 1971, he participated in the founding of Sala Tres in Sabadell. The Joan Miró Foundation presented his retrospective "Trabajos y días" (Works and Days), and the Centre Georges Pompidou exhibited his work. His paintings are part of the collections of MACBA, the ABANCA Art Collection, the Banc Sabadell Collection, and the Bank of Spain Collection.
