Edgar Plans

Edgar Plans (Spain, 1977) holds a degree in Art History from the University of Oviedo, although he did not pursue formal art studies. During his childhood and adolescence, he trained in the studios of Carlos Roces and José María Ramos before developing his own independent painting practice.

His style combines elements of graffiti, pop art, children’s illustration, and urban art through vibrant colors, expressive lines, and distinctive characters. Among these are the Animal Heroes, figures through which he addresses pollution and environmental degradation, as well as values such as solidarity, camaraderie, and respect.

Among his accolades are the 9th Luis Adelantado International Prize in 2007, the Acquisition Prize and finalist status in the 16th Miquel Viladrich International Painting Prize in 2017, as well as the runner-up prize and an honorable mention in the 39th Casimiro Sainz National Prize that same year. His work is part of the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Havana, the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias, LABoral Center for Art and Industrial Creation, the “la Caixa” Foundation, and the Masaveu Foundation, among others.
