Eugenio Ampudia

Eugenio Ampudia (Spain, 1958) studied Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country and later at the Spanish Academy in Rome. He lives and works in Madrid. He pursues a multidisciplinary practice that encompasses installation, performance, and video art.

From a critical perspective, his work examines the boundaries between art and life, artistic processes, the political role of artists, and the meaning of the artwork. He also analyzes the mechanisms of production, promotion, and consumption, the function of art spaces, and the experience of those who view and interpret the works.

He has participated in events such as the Venice Biennale, the São Paulo Biennial, Documenta in Kassel, and the biennials in Singapore, Havana, and the End of the World. She has received the National Prize for Visual Arts, the AECA Prize in 2008 and 2018, the ARCO-BEEP Prize, and a grant from The Delfina Foundation. Her work is included in the collections of the MNCARS, MUSAC, ARTIUM, IVAM, and the “la Caixa” Foundation, among others.
