Francis Bacon (Ireland, 1909–Madrid, 1992). He was an Irish-British painter whose work focused on depicting the human condition through figurative art.

His work is characterized by distorted and grotesque figures set in dark, emotionally charged atmospheres. Influenced by Surrealism and Expressionism, he explored isolation, pain, and the fragility of life. Among his works is a series of studies based on Velázquez’s portrait of Pope Innocent X.

His works are part of the collections of the Tate in London, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane in Ireland.
