Guillermo Fornes

Guillermo Fornés (Spain, 1964–2026) studied psychology at Cardenal Cisneros University in Madrid and later fine arts at the King’s College of Art in London, where he established his first studio and worked for seven years. After returning to Spain, he researched and experimented with new painting and printmaking techniques at the Bilbao Arte Foundation. He divided his time between his studios in Madrid and Ibiza, and collaborated with the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao between 2004 and 2005.

His work focuses on painting and printmaking, centered on emotion, communication, analysis, and the development of a personal pictorial language. His work is grounded in synthesis and symbolism, combining outlined figures in contrast with gestural elements, the expressiveness of brushstrokes, and the power of color, creating a dialogue between opposing elements through direct brushwork.

He has been recognized at the Ibizagrafic Print Biennial at the Ibiza Museum of Contemporary Art (1993 and 2001), in the 2nd Deutsche Stiftung Foundation Print Competition (1999), and in the National Calcographic Institute Print Competition. His work is included in the collections of institutions and foundations such as the National Library, the Archive of Contemporary Prints in Madrid, the Royal Mint, the Telefónica Foundation, the UNICEF Foundation, the BBK Foundation, Crédit Agricole, BNP, and Deutsche Bank.
