Isabel Muñoz Vilallonga (Spain, 1951) began her studies in photography at the Barcelona School of Arts and Crafts, and in the 1970s she moved to Madrid, where she began her professional career as a press photographer and portraitist. Her work in photography focuses on portraits of different cultures, including African, Japanese, Spanish, and Mexican.

Her style is characterized by a search for beauty and the language of the body. Through her images, she seeks to capture the forms, gestures, and movements of the human figure. Her body of work addresses diverse cultural and social expressions.

She has been awarded the World Press Photo prize twice: in 1999 for her series “Transsexuals in Cuba” and in 2004 for “Holy Week in Seville.” She has also received the PHotoEspaña Award and the Medal of Merit in Fine Arts, and was awarded Spain’s National Photography Prize.
