Jaime Burguillos

In the late 1950s, he began his career within the social realism movement, before adopting, in the mid-1960s, a subtle and personal style of abstraction that he maintained throughout his career. His work within abstraction focuses on the emotion of painting reduced to its essential elements: color, light, and space. His style is characterized by a gentle and relaxed approach in which light and color take precedence over form. His compositions are typically dominated by a primary tone, whose variations lend vibrancy, rhythm, and counterpoint to the space through the interplay of color and light.

His work is included in institutional collections and museums such as the Reina Sofía National Art Museum, the Museum of Abstract Art in Cuenca, the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art, ARTIUM in Vitoria, and the Storm King Art Center in New York. It is also featured in the collections of the Bank of Spain, the Juan March Foundation, and the La Caixa Foundation.
