Jasper Johns (United States, 1930). His artistic practice spans the disciplines of painting, sculpture, and the visual arts, with a focus on the use of everyday iconography, objects, and familiar symbols.

His work is characterized by the use of encaustic, a technique that mixes hot wax with pigments to create textured and complex surfaces. Through elements such as flags, numbers, and bullseyes, his work addresses themes such as perception, memory, identity, the function of painting, and art history. Early in his career, he reacted against lyrical abstraction and Abstract Expressionism, and he is recognized as a pioneering figure in the development of Pop Art and as a proponent of Neo-Dadaism.

His works are held in the collections of museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), the Whitney Museum of American Art, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Art Institute of Chicago, the Tate in London, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Leer menos
