Juan Navarro Baldeweg is a Spanish artist born in Santander in 1939. He is recognized for his multidisciplinary career, encompassing painting, sculpture, architecture, and writing. His work reflects a variety of influences, from abstract and minimalist art to philosophy and science. One of the most characteristic features of his work is the creation of imaginary architectural spaces and their interaction with the viewer. His sculptures and paintings invite the viewer to enter them and explore the spaces created by the artist. Furthermore, he uses unusual elements and materials in his works, such as glass, steel, and light, which contribute to creating a magical and mysterious atmosphere. Regarding awards, Navarro Baldeweg has received numerous accolades throughout his career. In 1985, he was awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts and in 1990, the National Prize for Architecture. He also received the Gold Medal of Fine Arts in 1994 and the Velázquez Prize for Fine Arts in 2014.
