Lola Lasurt

Lola Lasurt (Spain, 1983) studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, completed a postgraduate degree in Aesthetics and Contemporary Art Theory at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and earned a master’s degree in Artistic Production and Research from the University of Barcelona. Her practice centers on painting and addresses political and social issues, history, memory, and the perception of place.

Her work uses painting to explore political, social, and memory-related questions through images. She frequently takes found photographs as the starting point for her creative process. She also investigates how people perceive and remember spaces, employing painting to evoke the emotions and sensations associated with those places.

Her exhibitions include "Write of Spring" at Het Paviljoen in Ghent, "Doble autorització" at the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, "Los Inmutables" at DAFO in Lleida, "Learn and Teach" at Cape Town Art Week, "Amnèsies" at Espai2 in Terrassa, "El Gegant Menhir" at the Museu Abelló in Mollet del Vallès, "Contextos Intermedia" at Tecla Sala, and "La gran aventura" and "Paradís Perdut" at Can Felipa in Barcelona. She received the Fundació Guasch Coranty Visual Arts Award (2013) and the GAC Award (2014).
