Manuel Avellaneda Gómez was a Spanish artist (Cieza, Spain, 1938–Cartagena, Spain, 2003), especially linked to the Murcian landscape. He trained in Murcia and Madrid, where he studied at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Fernando. In 1964, he took part in the creation of the Aunar group, together with other artists who sought to renew the artistic scene in the Region of Murcia.

His painting focused mainly on the arid landscapes of inland Murcia and the seascapes of the coast, with special attention to color, light, and the transformations of the territory. The influence of the Escuela de Vallecas was present in his early landscapes and, from the late 1980s onward, he developed a more personal language, also incorporating still lifes and larger-format works. He also worked with watercolor and illustration.

His work is part of holdings such as those of the Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia, Museo Zabaleta, Museo de Jaén, and Museo del Grabado Español Contemporáneo. In 2019, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia dedicated the exhibition Avellaneda en el paisaje to him, focused on his landscape production. His awards include the Ciudad de Murcia Prize, received in the late 1960s.
