Matthias Bitzer is a German artist (Stuttgart, Germany, 1975), whose practice develops across painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation. He studied at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe and lives and works in Berlin.

His work is known for the relationship between abstraction, figuration, geometry, memory, and identity. Through portraits, spatial structures, geometric forms, and historical or literary references, Bitzer creates fragmented compositions that explore the relationship between image, thought, and perception.

His work is part of collections such as LACMA, Marta Herford Museum, Kunstsammlung Gera, CCA Andratx, and the Art Collection of the Federal Republic of Germany. He has presented exhibitions in institutions such as Kunsthalle Krems, Palais de Tokyo, K21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kunstverein Hannover, Städtische Galerie Nordhorn, and Kunsthalle Göppingen.
