Mr. Brainwash is the artistic pseudonym of Thierry Guetta, a French artist (Garges-lès-Gonesse, France, 1966) based in Los Angeles. Before beginning his artistic career, he worked as a videographer and spent years documenting the urban art scene, an experience linked to the documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, directed by Banksy and released in 2010.

His work combines references to Pop Art, urban art, advertising, and mass visual culture. Through paintings, sculptures, installations, and graphic works, he reuses iconic images, popular characters, positive slogans, intense colors, and elements drawn from graffiti to create direct, accessible compositions with strong visual impact.

He has presented projects such as Life Is Beautiful, his first solo exhibition in Los Angeles in 2008, and in 2022 he opened the Mr Brainwash Art Museum in Beverly Hills. His work also gained greater international visibility through his appearance in Exit Through the Gift Shop, an Oscar-nominated documentary that won Best Documentary at the Independent Spirit Awards.
