Waldo Balart was a Cuban artist (Banes, Cuba, 1931–Madrid, Spain, 2025), known for his contribution to geometric abstraction and concrete art. Although he was born in Cuba, he developed most of his artistic career outside the country, especially between the United States and Spain. His work is based on color, structure, proportion, and the relationship between form and perception.

In addition to his artistic production, Balart wrote about art theory and published books such as Ensayos sobre arte and La práctica del arte concreto. His practice belongs to a rigorous investigation into visual language, with special attention to color systems and the rational construction of the image.

His work is part of collections such as the Museo Reina Sofía, MoMA, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Mondriaanhuis, Museum of Modern Art Hünfeld, and Museum im Kulturspeicher Würzburg. His recognitions include a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.
