Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist (Matsumoto, Japan, 1929), known for her paintings, sculptures, performances, and immersive installations. Her visual language is defined by the use of dots, nets, repetition, and patterns that transform space and the viewer’s perception.

Her practice explores accumulation, infinity, the dissolution of the self, and the relationship between body, image, and environment. Through works such as her Infinity Mirror Rooms, Kusama creates immersive experiences where repetition, reflection, and color become forms of visual and emotional expansion.

Kusama’s pieces are held in collections such as MoMA, Tate, and SFMOMA. Her art has been shown in institutions such as Tate Modern, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Museum Ludwig, and the National Gallery of Victoria. Her awards include the Praemium Imperiale for Painting in 2006, and she represented Japan at the Venice Biennale in 1993.
