MATERIALS AND CARE

 Recommendations for proper conservation of works of art:

  • Keep artwork away from direct sunlight and any other heat sources (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging artwork near areas with smoke and pollution (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We recommend protecting your artwork with a glass frame.

Avoid sudden temperature changes. It is recommended to store paintings in areas with a room temperature of 18-20°C and 50% relative humidity.

If you want to permanently illuminate the work, we recommend using cold light sources. Use a soft duster for periodic cleaning. Never use household cleaners.
SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Pedro Cano, a Spanish painter born in Blanca, in the Region of Murcia, in 1944, has developed a body of work closely linked to travel, the memory of landscape, and the slow observation of architecture and Mediterranean light. 7 Suite Villa Adriana nº 7, VII, made in 2005, is a hand-signed and numbered aquatint that reflects this interest in places filled with history and in the visual mark they leave on the artist’s experience.

The image presents a composition in soft tones, with wide areas of blue and ochre that suggest an open architectural space, treated more through atmosphere and memory than through detailed description. The reference to Hadrian’s Villa connects the work with the classical tradition and with the importance of Italy in Cano’s career, especially after his stay in Rome, where landscape, ruins, and light became an important part of his vision.

Pedro Cano is a Spanish painter, born in Blanca, in the Region of Murcia, in 1944. He began painting in oil on his own at the age of eleven, and in 1965 he entered the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid with a grant from the Provincial Council of Murcia. In 1969, he received a landscape grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to study at the Spanish Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, a city that played an important role in his career.

His work is mainly developed through painting, watercolor, and drawing. Landscape, Mediterranean light, the Murcian orchard, travel, and daily life are central references in his work. His images invite us to observe calmly the relationship between memory, nature, architecture, and personal experience.

In 2008, the Pedro Cano Foundation was created in Blanca to preserve, exhibit, and share his work. His awards include the Gold Medal at the Florence Biennial of Painting and Sculpture in 1971, the Gold Medal at the Florence Biennial of Graphic Arts in 1972, his appointment as Favorite Son of Blanca in 1986, his admission as a full member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Santa María de la Arrixaca in Murcia in 2001, and the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 2022.
