MATERIALS AND CARE

 Recommendations for proper conservation of works of art:

  • Keep artwork away from direct sunlight and any other heat sources (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging artwork near areas with smoke and pollution (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We recommend protecting your artwork with a glass frame.

Avoid sudden temperature changes. It is recommended to store paintings in areas with a room temperature of 18-20°C and 50% relative humidity.

If you want to permanently illuminate the work, we recommend using cold light sources. Use a soft duster for periodic cleaning. Never use household cleaners.
SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Shipping usually takes around 7 days. Shipping costs are determined based on the gallery's location and the size of the artwork. Packaging material costs are included.

Purchases made through Arte Global’s website (www.arteglobal.es) can be canceled within 24 hours. After this period, the purchase is considered final.

Jaume Plensa (Barcelona, 1955) is one of the most influential artists and sculptors of his generation. His work revolves around the human figure, combining matter and words in a constant search for spirituality, silence, and reflection. Since his beginnings in the 1980s, his sculpture has evolved from expressionist and anthropomorphic forms in iron to light and ethereal structures. Through materials such as glass, alabaster, resin, and light, his work has become dematerialized, giving rise to poetic forms where absence, emptiness, and language take center stage. Plensa creates serene faces and translucent bodies, constructed with letters or symbolic elements, that invite a contemplative experience. His pieces, both monumental and smaller-scale, inhabit museums, public spaces, and theater stages around the world, establishing an intimate dialogue between art and viewer. His graphic works perfectly reflect these same elements, adapting them to a two-dimensionality that transcends paper and generates suggestive effects of depth and light, a result of his sculptural experience.

Jaume Plensa is a Spanish artist, born in Barcelona in 1955, and one of the Spanish contemporary sculptors with the strongest international presence. He studied at Escola Llotja and the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. His practice includes sculpture, drawing, printmaking, artist’s books, stage design for opera and theater, video projections, and sound installations.

His style is marked by the study of the human figure, silence, memory, spirituality, words, and the relationship between the individual and the community. He has worked with materials such as iron, bronze, steel, glass, resin, alabaster, light, water, sound, and video. A central part of his work takes place in public space, where his pieces invite contemplation and a meeting between sculpture, setting, and viewer. His best-known projects include Crown Fountain in Millennium Park, Chicago, Nomade in Antibes, and Behind The Walls at Rockefeller Center.

His works have been shown in important museums and galleries around the world, including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. They are also part of collections such as The Clark Collection and Yorkshire Sculpture Park. His awards include Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in France in 1993, the National Prize for Visual Arts from the Government of Catalonia in 1997, an honorary doctorate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2005, the National Prize for Visual Arts of Spain in 2012, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Sculpture Center in 2024.
