Information about the work

To develop his abstract compositions, Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma, 1983) frequently resorted to the surrealist technique of automatism. This method seeks to liberate subconscious expression, suppressing rational control during the creative process. The artist then intervened on what was spontaneously generated, adding elements that give meaning to the work without necessarily resorting to figurative representation. A clear example of this approach is The Lizard with the Golden Feathers, where the superimposed forms suggest abstract beings or eyes, in keeping with the fantastical title of the piece. The work also stands out for its vibrant use of color and the combination of abstract forms, fusing the freedom of surrealist automatism with a marked compositional precision of a geometric nature.

Joan Miró
(Barcelona, 1893 - Palma, 1983)
Joan Miró was born in Barcelona in 1893, but his emotional landscapes, those that would shape him as a person and an artist, were essentially Mont-roig, Paris, Mallorca, and later New York and Japan. Mont-roig, a small town in the Baix Camp region, would be the counterpoint to the intellectual turmoil he experienced in Paris in the 1920s alongside the Surrealist poets, and to the stimulation of Abstract Expressionism he discovered in New York in the 1940s. Later, in the midst of World War II, Joan Miró would abandon his exile in France and settle in Palma de Mallorca, a place of refuge and work, where his friend Josep Lluís Sert would design the studio he had always dreamed of.

His attachment to the landscape of Mont-roig, first, and later to that of Mallorca, would be decisive in his work. His connection to the land and his interest in everyday objects and the natural environment would serve as the backdrop for some of his technical and formal investigations. Miró eschewed academicism, constantly searching for a comprehensive and pure body of work, not affiliated with any specific movement. Contained in his forms and public displays, it was through his visual art that Joan Miró demonstrated his rebelliousness and keen sensitivity to the political and social events surrounding him. This contrasting force led him to create a unique and highly personal language that placed him among the most influential artists of the 20th century.

Quick and clear response. Delivery times were met as agreed. Shipping was carried out with great care: protection of the artwork, documentation, etc. Everything was fine. This is striking because the opposite is common. Rating: EXCELLENCE

Impeccable. Always attentive to their customers and exceptional service. Highly recommended.

- Luis Eduardo Ruiz Santiago

I was treated with absolute transparency via WhatsApp; they knew a lot about the art market and framing. The lithograph arrived today with great care, in a cardboard tube wrapped in onionskin paper. It looks just like the photo! But the size wasn't perfect for me; they need to improve that aspect. A very good virtual experience!

- Marta Vilchez

I have found a product/work that satisfies me and the most correct commercial treatment.
