MATERIALS AND CARE

 Recommendations for proper conservation of works of art:

  • Keep artwork away from direct sunlight and any other heat sources (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging artwork near areas with smoke and pollution (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We recommend protecting your artwork with a glass frame.

Avoid sudden temperature changes. It is recommended to store paintings in areas with a room temperature of 18-20°C and 50% relative humidity.

If you want to permanently illuminate the work, we recommend using cold light sources. Use a soft duster for periodic cleaning. Never use household cleaners.
SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Shipping usually takes around 7 days. Shipping costs are determined based on the gallery's location and the size of the artwork. Packaging material costs are included.

Purchases made through Arte Global’s website (www.arteglobal.es) can be canceled within 24 hours. After this period, the purchase is considered final.

Information about the work

Valerio Adami (1935), an Italian artist associated with Narrative Figuration and known for a visual language of precise black outlines, flat color, and fragmentary scenes, took part in El Círculo de Piedra, a collective portfolio centered around Carlos Franqui and edited by Giorgio Upiglio in Milan.

In this lithograph, the image presents a schematic, almost theatrical interior space, defined by clean contours and a restrained color palette. Red dominates the center of the composition as a large curved surface, while the rest of the scene is rendered in black and white through architectural forms, objects, and only lightly suggested volumes.

According to Upiglio’s account, the project grew out of a network of friendships between Franqui and several artists who came together in the Cuban context of the late 1960s. It had no clearly defined commercial purpose and also served as a way of supporting the writer during his years in exile. The portfolio brought together lithographs by fifteen artists, including Adami, Calder, Lam, Miró, Jorn, Tàpies, and Vedova.

Valerio Adami is an Italian painter (Bologna, Italy, 1935), associated with European Pop Art and narrative figuration. His work is known for its strong black outlines, flat colors, and graphic-looking compositions, close to comics, posters, and illustration.

He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, where he trained with Achille Funi. From the 1960s onward, he developed his own visual language, built through fragmented scenes, literary, mythological, philosophical, and historical references, and a constant relationship between word and image.

His work is part of collections such as MoMA, Centre Pompidou, and the Contemporary Art Collection of the European Parliament. He has presented exhibitions in institutions such as documenta III in Kassel, the Venice Biennale, Centre Pompidou, Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Palazzo Reale in Milan, and Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
