MATERIALS AND CARE

 Recommendations for proper conservation of works of art:

  • Keep artwork away from direct sunlight and any other heat sources (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging artwork near areas with smoke and pollution (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We recommend protecting your artwork with a glass frame.

Avoid sudden temperature changes. It is recommended to store paintings in areas with a room temperature of 18-20°C and 50% relative humidity.

If you want to permanently illuminate the work, we recommend using cold light sources. Use a soft duster for periodic cleaning. Never use household cleaners.
SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Shipping usually takes around 7 days. Shipping costs are determined based on the gallery's location and the size of the artwork. Packaging material costs are included.

Purchases made through Arte Global’s website (www.arteglobal.es) can be canceled within 24 hours. After this period, the purchase is considered final.

Information about the work

Christo and Jeanne-Claude are known for their temporary interventions on landmark buildings and landscapes. Conceived by Christo in 1961, shortly after his arrival in Paris, L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped was finally carried out between September 18 and October 3, 2021, after six decades of waiting. For 16 days, the Arc de Triomphe was covered with 25,000 square meters of recyclable silver-blue fabric and 3,000 meters of red rope, in an intervention that transformed the perception of the monument and allowed the public to walk around it and touch it up close. The project, completed after Christo’s death in 2020, was carried out by his team in collaboration with the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, the Centre Pompidou, and the City of Paris.

This edition is signed and numbered by the official photographer of the project: Wolfgang Volz.

Wolfgang Volz has been the official photographer and closest collaborator of Christo and Jeanne-Claude since 1971. For more than five decades, he has exclusively documented every stage of their monumental projects, from the concept and preparations to the installation and final result. In addition to his work as a photographer, Volz played an active role in the direction and coordination of several large-scale projects, becoming an essential figure within Christo’s team. His photographs, signed by him, form the official record of these temporary works and are internationally recognized as photographic works in their own right.

Christo Vladimirov Javacheff, known as Christo, was a Bulgarian artist born in Gabrovo in 1935 and died in New York in 2020. He is known for his large-scale environmental installations and site-specific projects, made in public spaces, landscapes, and landmark buildings. From the late 1950s onward, he worked with Jeanne-Claude, his artistic and life partner, with whom he developed some of the most important projects in contemporary art.

His works temporarily transformed well-known places through fabrics, structures, and paths that changed the way people perceived space. Projects such as Surrounded Islands in Biscayne Bay, Miami; Wrapped Reichstag in Berlin; and The Gates in New York’s Central Park show his interest in monumental scale, public experience, and the relationship between art, architecture, and landscape.

His works are part of collections such as MoMA, Tate, Centre Pompidou, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the National Gallery of Art. Christo and Jeanne-Claude received awards such as the Praemium Imperiale for Sculpture in 1995, the Lifetime Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award from the International Sculpture Center in 2004, and the Vilcek Prize in 2006.
