MATERIALS AND CARE

 Recommendations for proper conservation of works of art:

  • Keep artwork away from direct sunlight and any other heat sources (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging artwork near areas with smoke and pollution (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We recommend protecting your artwork with a glass frame.

Avoid sudden temperature changes. It is recommended to store paintings in areas with a room temperature of 18-20°C and 50% relative humidity.

If you want to permanently illuminate the work, we recommend using cold light sources. Use a soft duster for periodic cleaning. Never use household cleaners.
SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Shipping usually takes around 7 days. Shipping costs are determined based on the gallery's location and the size of the artwork. Packaging material costs are included.

Purchases made through Arte Global’s website (www.arteglobal.es) can be canceled within 24 hours. After this period, the purchase is considered final.

Manolo Valdés (Valencia, 1942), a prominent Spanish artist and former member of the Equipo Crónica collective, is known for integrating elements of social and political criticism into his work with an aesthetic charged with humor and irony. This print depicts the profile of a male face, identified as Paolo from the title. The figure's white silhouette contrasts sharply with the reddish background, creating a visually powerful image. However, the most unique element of the work is the hat worn by the sitter: a complex structure composed of nude female figures and geometric shapes, reminiscent of various European avant-garde styles. Manolo Valdés is a Spanish artist (Valencia, Spain, 1942) whose career includes painting, sculpture, and printmaking. In 1964, he founded Equipo Crónica together with Rafael Solbes and Juan Antonio Toledo; after Toledo’s early departure, the group continued with Valdés and Solbes until 1981. Their collective work was linked to Pop Art and to a critical view of Spanish society and politics during Franco’s regime.

After the dissolution of Equipo Crónica, he developed an individual career based on the reinterpretation of images from art history. His paintings and sculptures revisit figures and motifs from artists such as Velázquez, Goya, Matisse, and Picasso, with special attention to material, texture, color, and the simplification of forms. In sculpture, he has also worked on a monumental scale.

His work is part of collections such as Museo Reina Sofía, IVAM, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and MoMA. He has presented exhibitions in institutions such as IVAM and Museo Reina Sofía, which organized a retrospective of his individual career in 2006.
