MATERIALS AND CARE

 Recommendations for proper conservation of works of art:

  • Keep artwork away from direct sunlight and any other heat sources (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging artwork near areas with smoke and pollution (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We recommend protecting your artwork with a glass frame.

Avoid sudden temperature changes. It is recommended to store paintings in areas with a room temperature of 18-20°C and 50% relative humidity.

If you want to permanently illuminate the work, we recommend using cold light sources. Use a soft duster for periodic cleaning. Never use household cleaners.
SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Shipping usually takes around 7 days. Shipping costs are determined based on the gallery's location and the size of the artwork. Packaging material costs are included.

Purchases made through Arte Global’s website (www.arteglobal.es) can be canceled within 24 hours. After this period, the purchase is considered final.

Information about the work

Christo Vladimirov Javacheff (Gabrovo, 1935 - New York, 2020), known simply as Christo, was a Bulgarian artist famous for his large-scale installations, in which he used fabric to wrap structures and landscapes. Although the artist never carried out any interventions in Madrid, this graphic work poses what it would have been like if he had created an installation at Madrid's iconic Puerta de Alcalá. The work presents a detailed sketch of the monument covered in characteristic fabric, as well as annotations and drawings that highlight architectural elements and different perspectives of how the intervention would have been carried out.

Christo Vladimirov Javacheff (Gabrovo, Bulgaria, 1935-2020) Christo was an artist known for his environmental and site-specific style. He gained international fame for his large-scale environmental installations and public artworks. He often collaborated with his wife, Jeanne-Claude, until her passing in 2009. Their works were known for their monumental scale, temporary nature, and the way they interacted with the environment. Some of Christo and Jeanne-Claude's most famous projects include "The Gates" in New York City's Central Park, where they installed thousands of saffron-colored fabric panels along the pathways; the "Wrapped Reichstag" in Berlin, where they covered the entire German parliament building in silver fabric; and "Surrounded Islands" in Miami's Biscayne Bay, where they surrounded a group of islands with pink fabric. Christo's work challenged traditional ideas about art and space, inviting viewers to experience familiar landscapes in new and unexpected ways.
