Robert Rauschenberg was a U.S. artist (Texas, United States, 1925– Florida, United States, 2008), recognized as a key figure in the transition between Abstract Expressionism, Neo-Dada, and Pop Art. He studied at the Kansas City Art Institute, the Académie Julian in Paris, and Black Mountain College, where he came into contact with Josef Albers, Susan Weil, John Cage, and Merce Cunningham.

His work is known for the incorporation of images, found objects, everyday materials, and experimental processes. From 1954 onward, he developed his famous Combines, hybrid works between painting, collage, assemblage, and sculpture that questioned the traditional limits of art and brought artistic creation closer to everyday life.

His work is part of collections such as MoMA, Tate, Centre Pompidou, SFMOMA, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. He presented exhibitions in institutions such as the Jewish Museum in New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, Centre Pompidou, Tate Modern, MoMA, and SFMOMA. His awards include the Grand Prize for Painting at the Venice Biennale in 1964, the National Medal of Arts in 1993, the “Leonardo da Vinci” World Award of Arts in 1995, and the Praemium Imperiale for Painting in 1998.
