In the early 1970s, the celebrated artist David Hockney lived in Paris, where he met Yves-Marie Hervé, who would become his friend and one of his main muses during this period. Among the most important works produced during this period in which Yves-Marie served as a muse is this lithograph, made in 1974, originally published in London by Petersburg Press. In the piece, we can appreciate Hockney's ability to capture the emotion of his subjects through subtle line work and soft shading, which evokes a feeling of tenderness. As is typical in his work, the artist often portrays people with whom he maintains a close relationship, even friendships, allowing him to create portraits full of honesty and feeling.
