Alberto Udaeta

Alberto de Udaeta (Spain, 1947). He studied and began his career in the field of industrial design. He worked in Europe and Canada until 1980, when he moved to Sant Feliu de Guíxols. As a contemporary sculptor, he employs traditional techniques and works primarily with iron, Corten steel, and bronze.

His work transforms these metals into strong, intense, and essential forms, imbued with a poetic character. His creative process is distinguished by conceptual clarity and draws on both experience and history.

Among his most notable exhibitions are "Batecs de la Memoria" at the Museum of the History of Catalonia (Barcelona, 2001), "Localismes Universals" at the Vila Casas Foundation (Palafrugell, 2022), and "Entre Obres" at the Espai Carmen Thyssen (Sant Feliu de Guíxols, 2024). He was selected for the Vital Kutxa Foundation Sculpture Competition (2001), the 2nd Vila de Palafrugell Contemporary Sculpture Competition organized by the Vila Casas Foundation (2005), the 4th Girona Art Biennial and the Landscape Sculpture Competition for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games (2006), as well as for the Vila Casas Foundation Awards (2007).
