Ana H. del Amo's (Cáceres, 1977) research into form focuses on expressing herself through color, line, and materials, giving rise to abstract pieces with diverse formalizations—between intuitive geometry and gestures—crafted through relationships and dialogues with the materials. Her work process is anything but orthodox, and for this reason, the method used varies depending on the characteristics of each material and the context. It is through play and dialogue that the works are created, sometimes utilizing the gestural nature of incorporating color and at other times respecting the characteristics or scars of the materials and objects. Each piece created offers us one possibility in a thousand, and it is here that the creator puts her entire focus. Resolved in subtle ways, where the play of possibilities is present in the process. Luminous colors, even fluorescent, forms that refuse to be enclosed, much less classified. Forms of refined appearance, where we can appreciate details or flaws in the pulse of the action of creation. Ana H. del Amo holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. She has exhibited, individually and collectively, in spaces such as the Can Felipa Cultural Center, Barcelona; Casa de Velázquez, Madrid; MAC Unión Fenosa, A Coruña; Centre del Carme, Valencia; Luis Adelantado Gallery, Valencia; Josep Renau Room, University of Valencia; Rosa Santos Gallery, Valencia; Cáceres Museum; Parliament of Extremadura, Mérida; Pérez Comendador-Leroux Museum, Hervás, Cáceres; Rafael Pérez Hernando Gallery, Madrid; Set Espai d'Art, Valencia; Fran Reus Gallery, Palma de Mallorca; Juan Silió, Madrid; and La Lance, Switzerland; and Cáceres Abierto, among others. A fellow of the Spanish Academy in Rome in 2005, she was awarded the Francisco de Zurbarán Fine Artists Grant by the Regional Government of Extremadura in 2006, 2008, and 2018. She has also won the DKV Acquisition Award, the Nocapaper Collection Award, and the Casa de Velázquez Prize in Estampa in 2016. In 2019, she received a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation in New York and, in 2020, a grant to establish Vegap.
