Ángela Valella (Havana, Cuba, 1948) is, in addition to being an artist, a curator and educator. Her work transitions from two-dimensional to three-dimensional space with great ease, in a continuous revision of dogmatic frameworks. In recent years, Valella has progressively increased her presence in Miami's cultural life with diverse and collaborative projects, such as The Nightclub, active since 2012, a sort of nomadic platform that seeks to construct content and establish dialogue between different artistic practices through curated exhibitions in different venues, each displayed for a single night. Last year, Valella also received the Cintas Fellowship Award, the highest honor given to Cuban artists in exile. Valella's work primarily focuses on the reuse of objects and spaces, attempting to create new models of dialogue and ways of relating them.
