Antoni Miralda

Antoni Miralda is a Catalan artist born in 1942 in the city of Terrassa, Spain. He is known for his artworks that explore the relationship between food, culture, and identity. After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, Miralda moved to Paris in 1966, where he became involved in the Fluxus movement and began working on collaborations with other artists. In 1971, he moved to New York City, where he immersed himself in the performance art scene and worked on pieces that involved food and ritual. In the 1980s, Miralda returned to Barcelona and began working on a series of works that focused on culinary culture and cultural identity. In one of his best-known works, El Internacional (1984–1986), Miralda created an artistic restaurant in New York City that served dishes from around the world in a multicultural environment. The installation featured cultural artifacts from around the world and became a popular spot for New York's art and cultural scene. In recent years, Miralda has continued to work on food art projects around the world, and has been recognized for his influence on culinary culture and art. His work has been exhibited in major contemporary art museums worldwide, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
