Antonio Samo is a Spanish contemporary artist born in Valencia in 1984. From a young age, he showed an interest in art and creativity, leading him to study Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where he graduated in 2008. Throughout his artistic career, Samo has developed his own style that combines elements of popular culture, technology, and social criticism. He uses different techniques and materials to create works that explore themes such as consumerism, globalization, identity, and communication in the digital age. His most notable works include the series "Nobody," "Fauna and Flora," and "Relics." In the "Nobody" series, Samo creates sculptures from different everyday objects wrapped in aluminum foil to reflect the alienation and anonymity of today's society. In "Fauna and Flora," he uses stuffed plants and animals to explore the relationship between humankind and nature. In "Reliquias," Samo uses antique and obsolete objects to question the value of memory and history in contemporary society. Samo's work has been exhibited in various galleries and museums in Spain and abroad, including the ARCOmadrid Contemporary Art Fair, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona, and the Contemporary Art Center of Malaga. He has also received several awards and recognitions, such as the National Young Art Award in the Visual Arts category in 2012. Samo continues to work in his studio in Valencia, experimenting with new materials and techniques to create works that continue to question and reflect on the themes that interest him. His work is considered an important contribution to the contemporary art scene in Spain and around the world.
