Cecilia de Val (Zaragoza, 1975) is a multifaceted artist who dedicates herself to both photography and music, both by vocation. In her photographs, Cecilia portrays herself as a modern heroine who shapes her adventures and the spaces she travels to her liking, creating scenes of enchanted forests, science fiction film sets, and peripheral architecture. On other occasions, a split-second Cecilia, as if cut out of a children's storybook, ventures into silent dreams of pain, betrayal, and intrigue. The intersection of genres such as science fiction literature, short stories, fantasy films, comics, and Renaissance painting produces disturbing and moving, almost intangible images that explore the limits of the subconscious. The themes of her discourse question individuality and identity through their opposites: multiplicity and the double. Cecilia knows that beauty attracts and frightens almost equally, and she plays with it. Far from snapshots that capture a fleeting moment, her photographs are stories woven from eternal moments in which the everyday is transformed into the fantastic. Furthermore, the fact that Cecilia acts as director, main character, and creator of her images grants her unusual freedom to express a feminine and feminist vision in which we see ourselves reflected virtually.
