Cecily Brown (United Kingdom, 1969) creates work that straddles the line between abstraction and figuration. Her art explores sexuality, desire, and mortality through compositions in which bodies and scenes appear and fade away amid overlapping forms.

Her style combines influences from Abstract Expressionism and classical art. She uses layers of vibrant colors and gestural brushstrokes to create movement and visual tension, leaving the images open to different interpretations through the interplay between abstract and figurative elements.

Her work is included in the collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Tate Modern, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and the Des Moines Art Center. He has also exhibited at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Kunsthalle Mannheim, the Deichtorhallen, MACRO, and the Hirshhorn Museum.
