Christopher Knowles (New York, 1959) shows in his work through poetry, audio collages and typewriting, how language not only serves as a gateway to the subconscious, but also as the key to communication with people that helps articulate who we are. Christopher Knowles. Knowles was diagnosed early as autistic and did not receive a formal art education, so he entered the art world through media such as radio, television and music. He played an important role in the New York avant-garde of the late seventies: as an artist he exhibited with Holly Solomon and as a performer he collaborated with the theater director and playwright Robert Wilson.
