Eva Miquel is a contemporary artist born in Barcelona in 1970. She graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and has explored various artistic languages throughout her career, although her specialty and where she has received the greatest recognition has been drawing. In 2021, she was a finalist for the prestigious Ynglada-Guillot international drawing prize, reflecting the quality of her work in this discipline. Miquel has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Spain and abroad. In 2019, she presented the solo exhibition "Mutismos" at the Palmadotze Gallery, where she showcased her most recent work. That same year, she participated in SWAB in Barcelona, where she received two Acquisition Awards for her work. In 2014, she presented the drawing project "A escala 1:1000" at Untitled BCN, and in 2012, she exhibited at the Espacio de Creación Contemporánea in Cádiz in a group exhibition curated by Ignacio Cabrero. She has also exhibited at international art fairs such as ARCO, Artissima, and DFoto, among others, and has been recognized with various awards and scholarships, such as the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation scholarship, the Casa de Velázquez Scholarship, and the AECA Award for the best group of works presented at the ESTAMPA fair. In 2005, she was a finalist in the video art competition "Ingenio 400. IV Centenario del Quijote" and received an honorable mention in the "Generación 2005" Award. In March 2020, she presented the publication Desde El Agua (From the Water) with the publishing house Zahorí Books and in collaboration with the Red Cross, which includes her most recent drawings on the stories of migrants. This project reflects her social commitment and her interest in addressing contemporary themes in her work. During 2020 and 2021, Eva Miquel received several recognitions, such as the Sorigué Foundation Acquisition Award - SWAB Art Fair, the Carmen and Lluís Bassat Foundation Acquisition Award - SWAB Art Fair, the VEGAP Scholarship - Creation Grants and the JUNCEDA 2021 award in the adult and children's non-fiction book category with the publication Desde El Agua. These awards and her career consolidate Eva Miquel as a prominent contemporary artist in the current art scene.
