Federico Miró

Federico Miró (Spain, 1991) studied Fine Arts at the University of Málaga, where he graduated with honors. He works in painting, sculpture, installation, and video art, addressing themes such as identity, culture, and politics.

His practice is characterized by experimentation with different techniques and styles. In his abstract paintings, he explores the relationship between color and form through layering and transparency. In the installation "Puentes", he uses wooden structures inspired by bridges to reflect on connectivity and interconnection in a globalized world.

He was a finalist for the Griffin Art Prize in 2015, participated in the 27th Circuitos de Artes Plásticas de la Comunidad de Madrid in 2016, received the 32nd BMW Prize for Innovation in Painting in 2017, and won first prize in the 5th Manuel Ángeles Ortiz Painting Competition at the University of Jaén in 2020. Following an artist residency at Proyecto T in Mexico City in 2023, he was awarded the Casa de Velázquez fellowship from the Málaga City Council for 2025–2026. His work is included in collections such as those of the Málaga Contemporary Art Center, the Dos de Mayo Art Center Museum, BMW, Paradores, the DKV Foundation, and the universities of Jaén and Málaga.
