Georgia O'Keeffe (United States, 1887–1986) worked as an art teacher and illustrator before coming into contact with the avant-garde art movements in New York. Her paintings focus on the exploration of form and color through large-scale depictions of flowers, landscapes of the American Southwest, and abstract scenes.

Her style blends Native American art, modernism, abstraction, Art Deco, and surrealism. Beginning in the 1920s, she developed an artistic approach that combines figuration, symbolism, and photographic techniques. Notable among her works are her floral compositions, characterized by a feminine eroticism that explicitly links her to the feminist movement.

She was one of the first women to achieve international recognition in American modern art. Her works are part of collections at leading museums, notably the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MoMA in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid.
