Henry Moore (United Kingdom, 1898–1986). He studied at the Leeds School of Art beginning in 1919 and at the Royal College of Art in London starting in 1921. He developed his artistic practice in sculpture and drawing, focusing primarily on the human figure—especially women, either alone or with a child—and on scenes of family life.

His work is characterized by monumental sculptures with organic, curvilinear forms designed to blend into the natural landscape, crafted in bronze, stone, and wood. In his body of work, he combined abstraction with figuration, adopting a more naturalistic style in the drawings he created on government commission depicting refugees in the London Underground. His work was influenced by Greek, Renaissance, African, Oceanic, and pre-Columbian art. In 1933, he joined the avant-garde group Unit One, and in 1936, he exhibited at the International Surrealist Exhibition in London.

Among his exhibitions, the retrospective held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1946 stands out. In 1948, he was awarded the International Sculpture Prize at the Venice Biennale. He created large-scale public works, including "Reclining Figure" (1956–1958) for UNESCO in Paris and a piece of the same title for Lincoln Center in New York (1963–1965); his work is featured in collections and public spaces around the world.
