Iabadiou Piko is a contemporary Indonesian artist whose work focuses on themes of identity, migration, and culture. Born in Jakarta in 1984, Piko is known for his use of watercolor and his ability to create a sense of transparency and fluidity in his paintings. Much of Piko's work focuses on the experience of being a migrant and the cultural tensions this brings. His art often features human figures in motion, representing the transition from one place to another and the struggle to find a sense of belonging. His works are often highly detailed and filled with symbols that reference the culture of his homeland. Even though Piko has exhibited all over the world, his work remains closely tied to his home in Indonesia. Many of his works are based on local stories and cultural traditions that have been passed down through generations. He believes it is important to preserve these stories through art and use it as a way to connect with his past and heritage.
