Jeff Koons

Jeff Koons (United States, 1955) studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His artistic practice focuses primarily on sculpture, addressing themes related to pop culture, consumerism, mass art, self-acceptance, and transcendence.

His style is characterized by the transformation and incorporation of everyday objects and images—such as balloons and toys—reproduced in large formats and crafted from materials like polished stainless steel. His work combines kitsch aesthetics with high culture through vividly colored representations that challenge notions of value and originality.

Notable among his exhibitions is "Jeff Koons: A Retrospective" (2014), organized by the Whitney Museum of American Art and subsequently presented at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. His work is included in the collections of institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the National Gallery of Art, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, The Broad Art Foundation, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Tate Gallery, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo.
