Juan Serrano (Seville, 1956) is a Spanish visual artist, known for his painting and drawing work. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville and later moved to Paris, where he lived for several years and where his work was influenced by abstract art. Juan Serrano's work is characterized by his ability to create spaces in which pictorial elements combine to create a sense of depth and movement. His paintings are generally monochromatic, with a predominance of gray and black tones, although he also uses bright colors in some cases. His work contains references to the tradition of Spanish painting, as well as influences from Abstract Expressionism. Juan Serrano has exhibited his work in various galleries and museums in Spain and abroad, such as the Rafael Ortiz Gallery in Seville, the Chirivella Soriano Foundation in Valencia, and the Van Doren Waxter Gallery in New York. He has also received several awards and recognitions throughout his career, including the National Prize for Fine Arts awarded by the Regional Government of Andalusia in 1994 and the Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts awarded by the Spanish Government in 2006.
