KAWS (United States, 1974), the artistic name of Brian Donnelly, is an artist and designer who began his career in street art. His practice encompasses media including painting, sculpture, and limited-edition toys, and focuses on crossing the boundaries between fine art and popular culture.

His style combines influences from graffiti, comics, and graphic design within an accessible visual language. His work is formally characterized by clean lines, the recurring use of the “X” motif, and the reinterpretation of iconic characters through his distinctive visual vocabulary.

His work is held in the permanent collections of institutions including the Brooklyn Museum in New York, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in Texas, and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in California. His work has also been exhibited at the Moco Museum in Barcelona and Amsterdam, the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, and the Yuz Museum in Shanghai.
